1) How much does the course cost?
The course is free of charge¹ to postgraduate researchers from Bath Spa University, the South West Doctoral Training Partnership (SWDTP) and the University of the West of England, Bristol who are successful in gaining a place.
Applicants from other universities are welcomed and the price charged per participant is £595 + VAT
¹Participants from Bath Spa, the South West Doctoral Training Partnership (SWDTP) and UWE Bristol will be asked to pay a deposit of £50 to confirm an offer of a place which is returnable upon successful completion of the course.
*3D3 applicants who are successful in gaining a place and have approved SDF funding will be asked to pay a deposit of £50 to confirm an offer of a place which is returnable upon successful completion of the course.
2) Am I eligible to attend this course?
The minimum eligibility requirement is that applicants should have completed their progression (or transfer) examination. The course is open to postgraduate researchers from any discipline.
3) Is it possible to attend part of the residential?
We ask participants to commit to the entire course in order to gain the benefit.
4) Where is the nearest train station to Buckland Hall?
The nearest train station to Buckland Hall is Abergavenny. There are taxis outside the station and the journey is approximately 12 miles.
5) I would like to travel by car to the venue, can you give me directions
Please look at the directions provided on the venue website. Take note that satellite navigation devices often give incorrect directions to Buckland Hall.
6) Is there car parking at Buckland Hall?
There is ample free parking at the venue.
7) I have specific dietary requirements. What food is offered?
In keeping with the ethos of care for health and environment, all catering at Buckland Hall can be described as lacto-vegetarian cuisine. They use milk and dairy items but no other animal products. Ingredients are locally sourced, fresh and, often, organic. The menu is very tasty and wholesome. If you have specific requirements, do let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
8) Do I have to share a room?
Most of the residential accommodation available at Buckland Hall is offered as twin rooms. There are a small number of single rooms which can be offered according to specific needs. please let us know if you have a request for a single room and we will try to accommodate you.
9) Will there be any free time?
The programme is designed to provide participants with time to reflect on the learning, to socialise with other participants and to establish connections. The venue is situated in 60 acres of grounds with access to some fantastic walking routes around the Usk Valley.
10) Is there any wi-fi access?
Wi-fi is available on the ground floor only.
